A special young boy named Curtis has a magical connection with his dog, a white German shepherd named “Cash”, which strengthens over time. Cash was initially given to the oldest daughter, Logan. Still, he began to see her often cruel behaviour toward Curtis, making him want to be even closer to Curtis and keep him safe, and also making Logan extremely jealous.
When their parents are killed in an accident, there is a large inheritance for both children, but Logan wants it all. This, on top of other stresses, and her contempt towards Curtis, creates the perfect storm, and the outcome is a murder plan. Logan will use her close friends, Trish, CK, Lavinia, and her handsome, but greedy, boyfriend Leon, to help her kill Curtis.
On the day of Curtis’s murder, they make the mistake of letting Cash be whiteness to what they do to his master, Curtis, and this sets him on a path of revenge to kill them all.
‘A Dog’s Love’ was the very first movie that came to mind, going back five years ago, and was also the main catalyst that kick-started my writing journey. The story came into my head after I had uncovered a family betrayal surrounding my Mother’s Will and affairs, and the damage was so extreme that it tore our whole family apart, making me question everything, especially love.
The main inspiration was strongly influenced by my dog, an English Bull Terrier named ‘Alpha’, with his unwavering and pure love that allowed me to heal in some way. I will never get to that point to forgive, but I felt that this movie idea does have a message of hope, that you can overcome something bad if you let love in again, and move forward.
The idea was classed as high concept and this led to my three and a half year contract and collaboration, with Greg Woodland a professional writer and founder of Script Central NSW.
We are now at our final Treatment stage of ‘A Dog’s Love’, and then it will move to the development of the script by Greg Woodland.
