An Englishman named Clifford has created a life-size female Marionette in the image of his favourite singer and schoolboy crush, ‘Kate Bush’.
When Cliff was fourteen his Father Paul had spent hours teaching him this ancient and dying Art of Puppetry crafting, and from this they formed a very strong bond. Clifford’s mother, June, also encouraged his interests; therefore, he grew up in a warm and loving home.
Clifford was not a popular boy in school, but this didn’t hinder him in any way because he and his cousin, named Anne Webster, are the best of friends, and she is always by his side. Cliff and Anne go through school and life together, and they even end up studying as young adults at the same University.
While in attendance at University, Cliff receives sad news of his Fathers’ passing, and so he returns to his family home named ‘Heights Manor’, to be with his mother. Clifford then decides that he will stay on for a while to create a Marionette in his dad’s memory, a life-size female in the image of ‘Kate Bush’, which he names Kate.
After Kate is made, Cliff begins to pour his heart out to her in secrecy, often holding her in his arms and crying. All of this intense emotion makes Kate magically come to life because she feels that now she must care for her Master, and now he is hers. As time goes by, Cliff begins to heal and spends less time with Kate, often leaving her alone in a dark room, making her sad. When Kate starts to notice certain people are trying to take Clifford away from her, it sets her off on a jealous and murderous path, and it makes her stronger each time she kills someone. Kate wants her Master all to herself, but she must also change the way that she looks, then he will be hers forever.
I would describe this to be a Horror love story that does have gore but not in the usual slasher way, and is based solely on the artist Kate Bush and her song “Wuthering Heights”. I also didn’t want the ending to be the usual, where when the antagonist is killed, he or she pops up again to continue fighting with the protagonist in the movie. I thought that maybe because it’s a tragic love story, the viewers might almost feel sorry for the villain, and be on her side a little bit.
This movie outline is in its very early stage and was assessed by a published writer and a professional scriptwriter, who called it an original concept. However, it does need more work, and the storyline is not yet well-connected, so we will be heading into another draft.
